Family and Friends

Though we know that the military servicemembers and first responders who struggle with Post-Traumatic Stress, Traumatic Brain Injury, depression, combat wounds, suicidal thoughts, and other physical and mental afflictions carry a massive burden, we recognize the burden that is also carried by those closest to them. It can be extremely difficult for a military or first responder spouse or child to adjust to the changing home environment that is created when a loved one is working through these issues.

At the Veteran Wellness Center, we understand that family and friends are part of the equation, not only as partners on the wellness journey of the servicemember or the first responder, but as individuals on their own wellness journey. We offer programming, including classes and workshops, for the family and friends of servicemembers and first responders to learn about holistic and integrative therapies and modalities that can help them and their loved ones. These include, but are not limited to:

  • Art Therapy

  • Chiropractic Therapy

  • Acupuncture Therapy

  • Massage Therapy

  • Music Therapy

  • Floatation Therapy

  • Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy

  • Infrared Sauna

  • Biofeedback Scanning

  • Electromagnetic Field Therapy

  • Meditation

  • Craniosacral Therapy

  • Stem Cell Therapy

  • Mental Health Counseling

  • Mental Reframing

We are proud to have developed relationships with wellness practitioners throughout the Hampton Roads region and around the country, which allows us to provide you with the best, cutting-edge information available regarding wellness therapies of interest to them. We also work with these practitioners to provide funding for family members, friends, and companions who are unable to bear the financial cost of these treatments. For more information on this, please see the Apply for Funding page.
